Who we are

Adelaide Yoga and Movement Therapy was founded in 2017 by Yoga Therapist, Yoga Teacher and Dance Instructor Regan Gardner. Her focus has grown over the years to hone in on the need for people, in particular Women, to keep mobile and active into their older years. She has seen how much difference it makes to the physical and mental health of women who come into her dance and yoga classes.

The practice of Yoga in the modern age has seemingly become so athletic and far removed from its original source and can scare people off who have never tried it before. Our aim is to tap into the ancient roots of Yoga Practice and Principal and bring back the truly nurturing aspects that it has to offer. We believe in the systems of Yoga and the profound effect it can have on health and happiness.

“Yoga must be made to suit the individual, not the individual to suit the yoga.”
– T Krishnamacharya

What we do

Yoga Therapy is an individualised approach; this is different to a yoga class. In a Yoga Therapy session the Therapist will consult with you to find out more about your needs and conduct an assessment. From here we will work together to create a practice suited to your specific needs.

The Yoga Therapist works closely with Yogic Principals and Practices; these take into consideration the body as a whole, the physical body, breath, energy, mental and spiritual states. There are many layers to consider and we may work with one, or several to achieve a desired result. Sometimes just working with one can have an effect on multiple layers, just like throwing a pebble into a pond, the movement ripples out creating change on many levels.

Your Therapist will check in with you to make sure the practice is working for you and see if there needs to be any changes or adjustments. Sometimes the most subtle things done right can have the biggest effect. Our aim is to help you move towards a better state of health and happiness. This also means giving you the tools to help maintain your health and the freedom of movement.
